Apple recently reported a record breaking earnings in its fourth fiscal of 2014. Grabbing the 6th position in the YouGov’s Brand Perception list. And now it has broken one more record. Apple has become the number one preference for the Chinese luxury customers when it comes to gifting someone.
According to a Hurun Luxury Report which was published on Thursday, Apple is on the number one position as a gifting brand. The Hurun luxury report is an annual survey of the spending patterns of millionaires in the country. Apple has snatched this spot from Hermes International SCA. Hermes International is a French maker of designer clothing and accessories, known for its scarves and handmade leather luggage. The latest products of Apple like iPhones to Macbooks were the most popular gifts items among China’s luxury consumers in 2014. Apple also managed to beat the fashion luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Chanel.
The report also suggested a minute drop of 5% in the spending pattern of millionaires. Contrary to some analysts predictions, Apple did not sell more iPhones in China than in the U.S during the quarter but China is dangerously close to surpass U.S as the main driver of Apple’s revenue. This turning point may likely come next quarter according to analyst, Ben Bajarin of Creative Strategies who told SiliconBeat.
With the launch of the Apple Watch in April, Apple might even retain its position in the Hurun Luxury Report for next year as it might be the most gifted or it could be vice versa, too. Well, this also proves that Apple has surely made it point to concentrate on China as one of their chief priorities. The company aims to have 40 stores in greater China by mid 2016.
